The visionary behind Fresh Start Surgical Gifts is local plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dennis Nigro. Dr. Nigro began recruiting local doctors and nurses to volunteer their time at his private surgery center in 1986. Fresh Start’s goal is to answer the hopes of children and their families by providing reconstructive surgery to children who suffer from physical deformities cause by birth defects, accidents, abuse or disease.

GFWC-CWONC provides patient bags for both the kids and their parents. The fabric tote bags include toiletries, a game or two, activity books and hand knit slippers.
