What it is…
The Contemporary Women of North County's Breakfast with Santa has quite a
history. Over twenty five years ago, the San Marcos Junior Women's Club
joined forces with the San Marcos Kiwanis to host a pancake breakfast at the
"Barn" in San Marcos. Proceeds benefited local youth activities.
By 1990, the Pancake Breakfast moved to Palomar College with Juniors teaming
up with the college to raise funds for college scholarships. Breakfast was
served cafeteria style. Santa spent special time with each child and his
elves were diligent in taking down special requests for Christmas. Mom had
time to do a little shopping at the Junior Holiday Boutique and San Marcos
families enjoyed a great morning.
In 1995, the Escondido Junior Women's Club and San Marcos Juniors joined
forces and the pancake breakfast became part of the City of San Marcos'
"Santa's Village."
Today, CWONC members continue their role in the City of San
Marcos' holiday "kick off." The first week of December includes a tree
lighting, a craft fair, children's activity booths, CWONC's Breakfast with
Santa, and a Parade down Mission Avenue.
