Who We AreGFWC-Contemporary Women of North County (GFWC CWONC) is a non-profit organization and a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs International (GFWC). Established by Jane Cunningham Croly in 1890, for the purpose of socializing and serving the community, GFWC is the world’s largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational women's volunteer service organization. GFWC is made up of 52 State Federations (including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) and clubs in more than 20 countries. Our state organization is the GFWC- California Federation of Women's Clubs (CFWC) and we are a member of GFWC-CFWC AREA D and the GFWC-CFWC Palomar District. We are designated as a Junior Membership. Our membership in GFWC, CFWC and Palomar District provides us with leadership training, suggested projects, monetary awards, and the support of sister members across the world. Clubs are comprised of women from all walks of life, all ages, all races, and all creeds. There are six general volunteer areas: Arts, Conservation, Conservation, Home Life, International Affairs and Public Affairs. These areas support major issues of our time such as abuse prevention, women's health, literacy and community improvement. Benefits of membership in GFWC CWONC:
