Tea at the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe

1996

The Club's first Tea began with the Vista Juniors in 1996. All of the money raised went to a scholarship for local young women. This annual event for the community of San Diego-North County was the major fundraiser for CWONC. The proceeds from our teas enabled the club to give four deserving young women financial help as they entered college.

The tea was held at the historic Rancho Buena Vista Adobe on an autumn afternoon. Each year the Tea was organized around a theme. Past themes included a Garden Party, Friendship Tea, Heavenly Angels, and a Hat and Glove Affair.

Guests were serenaded by a classical musician as soon as they entered the Adobe grounds. The Tea began with an introduction of CWONC members and the serving of fine tea. Pastries, both savory and sweet, were served by members along with the imported tea.

While guests were dining, opportunity baskets and a silent auction were offered . Special entertainment centered around the theme was presented midway through the afternoon.

Past entertainment included tea leaves readings, storytelling, talks about angels among us, and an historic fashion show. At the conclusion of the Tea, guests enjoyed a docent-led tour of the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe.
